Our Weekend in PA Dutch Country – Day 2

Our 2nd day in Lancaster County started off with an amazing breakfast at the B & B.  I was so excited, I forgot to snap a pic, but here’s a recap.  We had a homemade quiche with cheese, potatoes and onions.  It was super yummy and so rich and filling.  On the side, I had a Shoofly muffin (so moist and delicious) and some fresh fruit (raspberries, blackberries, pineapple and watermelon).  If this wasn’t satisfying enough, there was also dessert…a hot out of the oven blueberry and peach cobbler.  Let’s just say…it was to die for!

After breakfast, we were totally stuffed, so we decided to take a walk around the grounds of the B & B before heading for Hershey, PA.  It was the most PERFECT day…74 degrees, bright blue sky (barely a cloud to be seen) and sunny!

Then we made our way to Hershey…

Justin and I aren’t much into roller coasters, so we didn’t go to Hershey Park, but we did go to Chocolate World.  It was super crowded and not as fun as we thought….it’s definitely geared more toward kids.  We did go on a “ride” that took us through a tour of how to make chocolate.  It was okay…the exciting part for me was getting a mini Hershey Bar at the end!

Then it was off to Hershey Gardens.

The gardens were absolutely beautiful!  I think this might have been the highlight of the trip!  We took a ton of pics, but here’s just a taste of what is was like…

After the gardens, we were looking for a light lunch after such a filling breakfast, so we headed to Panera Bread.  I got garden vegetable soup and the strawberry/chicken salad and Justin got a bacon/turkey sandwich.

Then off to some wine tasting at the Mount Hope Estate and Winery!  I forgot to snap some pics here, but Justin and I had fun tasting lots of  delicious wines and settled on these three…

After such a busy morning, but the time mid-afternoon rolled around, we were wiped, so we decided to go back to the B & B and rest up before dinner.

We went to The Olde Lincoln House in Ephrata.  We started off with Roasted Red Pepper & Artichoke Tapenad  with crostini.  It was a perfect started and tasted yummy!  I think I need to try to duplicate this at home!

And we both got a side salad…

For our main meal, Justin ordered Grilled Pork Tenderloin and Pineapple…

And I ordered Baked Salmon with Mango Salsa (the salmon was great, the mango salsa…not so much :-()

We passed on dessert at the restaurant because the B & B puts out fresh homemade desserts in the evening, so we decided to go back to the B & B for dessert and were VERY excited to find a dark chocolate cake with PB frosting and some homemade chocolate.  This was the most amazing cake ever!  Both Justin and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

We ate our dessert on the back patio and enjoyed the beautiful weather and this view…

A perfect end to a perfect day!  :-)

Day 3 and 4 to come…
